Taking a quick look at LinkedIn’s Name Pronunciation tool

Have you used the new Name Pronunciation tool? Have you thought about how you can use it to leverage better engagement with prospects?

It’s a really neat tool! Whilst you can currently only set it up through your mobile device, it’s available to people viewing your profile on their desktops. Within a minute or two, you can have this engaging element on your profile.

I highly recommend taking it a few steps further than JUST YOUR NAME…

If you see mine, I’ve used it as a 10-second elevator pitch. What a cool way to digitally introduce yourself to prospects! It’s only 10 seconds because that’s currently how much time LinkedIn have given us for the audio snippet.

Take a few minutes to think about your opening line to potential clients. For me, I went with the following: “Hi, I’m Tim Slatter. We help financial advisers stay in touch with their clients.”

Boom – that took about four seconds, so I could have probably said more.

When you go to your profile on your mobile device, you should have this tool available when you click on the pencil to edit your personal details.

Once done, you can play it back to yourself. Don’t worry if you have to try several times, I tried mine about seven times before I felt like it didn’t sound too awkward. To help me get it right, I actually sat across from my wife and pretended I was meeting a prospect for the first time. (Yes – we laughed several times and I felt super weird)

Once done – it gets added neatly to your profile:
